Jan 12, 2010… Haiti is hit by a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake, with an epicenter near the town of Léogâne and approximately 25 km west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital. It was a Tuesday and the earthquake occurred at 4:43 PM (local time). That is the most devastating earthquake in history. Over 300 000 people lost their lives, 1.5 million left homeless or displaced and created between $7.8 billion and $8.5 billion in damage.
